Testing the FeatherEdge turbine noise reduction technology

Biome's new FeatherEdge solution to turbine noise is being put to the test. In late July 2024, this novel serration add-on, inspired by an owl's silent flight, will be installed on a Senvion MM92 turbine at Nergica’s turbine test facility in Gaspe, Canada.

Noise data is being collected and analyzed per the IEC 61400-11 standard. As the installation research project progresses, stay tuned for updates and insights on phase interference that are being measured in this new nature-inspired approach to cut turbine noise. It’s like noise-cancelling headphones for turbines.
